Rossies too strong for Fingal in Rackard Cup

ROSCOMMON 3-12 FINGAL 0-9

Roscommon proved too strong for Fingal in this Nicky Rackard Cup opener in Fingallians on Saturday evening.

The weather did not lend itself to great quality but the Rossies were much more adept in the conditions with Ronan O’Meara’s first half goal helping the visitors to a 1-8 to 0-4 interval lead.

Fingal, who are managed by Mick Kennedy (pictured), had kept pace for the opening 25 minutes with JM Sheridan and Danny Butterly taking some good scores.

In the 27th minute Fingal lost half-forward, Paul Graves, to a second yellow card.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Jerry Fallon batted hom Roscommon’s second goal while five five minutes from the end Cathal Kenny added a third.
