Round 4 of the PTSB Senior 1 Camogie Championship picture was pretty decisive, and even with one round still to play we already know who our semi finalists will be.
In Group A, dominant wins for St Vincents and Ballyboden sealed their spots in the semi-finals, knocking Lucan Sarsfields out of top-two contention. Lucan who have finished third in the table are into a Shield Final even with a Bye in the last round.
Next Sunday, Boden & Vincents will face each other in a top of the table clash. Whilst both teams will want to win the game to maintain their momentum and lay down a marker, they surely won’t want to give away too much in case they meet again in the final. It will be fascinating to see how the respective management teams approach this game.
At the other end of the table, Na Fianna & Castleknock who are both now facing a relegation final, play each other next Sunday to determine 4th & 5th place in the table.
In Group B, Plunkett’s earned a vital win over Faughs keeping their hopes of avoiding relegation alive as they go into the final round next weekend.
Plunketts win sets up a huge showdown, and likely to be the game of the weekend, when they host Cuala. With both sides on two points, this battle will determine which team contest a Shield Final and which is dragged into a Relegation playoff.
At the top of Group B, Naomh Jude are into the semi finals following an 11-point win over Crokes sending them to the top of the table on 6 pts with a game in hand. They have booked their semi-final spot alongside Kilmacud Crokes (who were already through finishing on 6 pts with a final-round bye).
A Judes win or draw against neighbours Faughs next week secures a top of the table finish.
