St Margaret’s kept up the pace on league leaders Na Fianna as they accounted for Naomh Fionnbarra by 0-18 to 1-4 in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 3 clash in Ballystrahan on Tuesday night.

The final scoreline failed to adequately reflect the battling efforts of the visitors but Finbarrs found it hard to pierce a resolute home defence, one in which goalkeeper Jack Murphy, Dano Lynch and Shane Madigan all impressed.

Jamie McGuinness provided a wealth of ball at midfield as Maggies entered the break leading by 0-9 to 0-3.

The lively Leon Daly top scored with six points and with the influential Conor McKenna and Darren Keogh chipping in with two points apiece, the hosts gradually pulled away through further scores by Brian Shanahan, Murphy, Charlie Madigan, McGuinness and Ciaran Bruton.

Across in Ballyboughal, Gerry Seaver scored 2-4 from centre-back as the hosts overcame Clontarf by 4-18 to 3-10.

Cian Warren and Eoghan Mac Philibín also raised green flags for the North County side, who maintained their control thanks to two points apiece from Matty Farrell and David Glanville allied to impressive individual displays by Mark Cooper, Willie Cooney, John Rodgers, Cahal Flynn and Cian Casey.

In Chanel, Cuala picked up their first win in five matches as they narrowly got the better of Pobal Parnell by 0-18 to 1-14.

The visitors played with the elements in the first-half to lead by double scores (0-10 to 0-5) with Brian Smith exerting a strong influence at midfield.

The hosts clawed their way back after the break despite injuries to Jake Sheridan and Graeme George but twelve Jamie Keenan points and further scores from Mark Smith, Cuán Nugent, Shane Foley and Marc Ó hAohghusa were enough to get Cuala over the line.

In AFL4, a late goal by Joe Murray proved pivotal as Garristown registered a thrilling 2-18 to 1-18 home victory over Man O’War.

Much of the credit must go to Aaron Murray, who was nothing short of immense in the home defence and with both Josh Enright and Sean Gormley shining around the middle third, Garristown made a decisive late push with substitute Niall Finn kicking two vital points off the bench.

In Cloghran, Craobh Chiaráin ended a winless four-match streak when defeating Whitehall Colmcille by 2-11 to 1-9.

Kevin Hetherton and Matt Forbes dominated the midfield exchanges with the latter also netting while wing-back Devon Byrne was equally impressive with his creative running from deep.

Goalkeeper Callum Murphy set the tone with the precision of his restarts and contributed a number of points from placed balls and with Byrne also on target, Craobh claimed a deserved win with a strong impact off the bench provided by Dylan Keeley and Leealan O’Kelly.

St Patrick’s Palmerstown moved two points clear at the summit of the table following their 1-19 to 1-11 victory against St Jude’s, capitalising on Ballymun Kickhams’ surprise home defeat at the hands of St Patrick’s Donabate.
