Round Towers Clondalkin completed their second win in three days when accounting for a weakened Cuala by 5-17 to 0-13 in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 3 clash at Monastery Road on Tuesday night.

Having beaten Trinity Gaels on Saturday night, the hosts piled on the pressure in the first-half with a brace of goals by Joey Leech augmented by further green flags from Ben Casey and a cracker by Aaron Waterhouse.

In St Margaret’s, the hosts turned on the style after the break on their way to a 4-15 to 1-11 victory over previous leaders Ballyboughal.

Despite trailing by 1-7 to 1-6 at half-time, St Margaret’s were solid at the back through the efforts of Niall Kennedy, Damian Murphy and Josh Kennedy with Jamie McGuinness his usual influential self at centrefield.

Both Leon Daly and David Smyth were lively throughout, scoring 1-3 apiece and with McGuinness chipping in with 1-2, Maggies eased home thanks to a Jack Stynes goal and two points apiece by Darren Keogh, the impressive Brian Shanahan and Conor McKenna.

It proved a positive evening for the top teams as Pobal Parnell and Ballyboden St Enda’s registered wins over St Anne’s and Thomas Davis respectively with Na Fianna moving into third place following their away win at O’Dwyer’s.

In AFL4, St Finian’s Swords finished on the front foot when edging Fingal Ravens by 0-16 to 1-10 at Ridgewood Park.

The hosts trailed by 1-6 to 0-2 at one stage but the point-taking of Conor Halpin saw them enter the break on level terms.

Halpin finished the contest with 0-9 to his name and with the Killian Ryan also to the fore with three points, St Finian’s did enough to prevail through further scoring contributions from Oisin O’Hea, Caellum Markey and Senan Crosbie.

That victory saw them move into second spot, a point behind league leaders Ballymun Kickhams, who secured their fifth win of the campaign when pipping St Peregrine’s by 3-10 to 2-11 at Blakestown Road.

Elsewhere, O’Toole’s moved into the top half of the table as they overcame Geraldine P. Morans by 2-17 to 1-10 at Blunden Drive.

The youthful hosts dominated for the large part through the efforts of Mick Concarr at midfield and centre-forward Dave Mooney with Cathal Keane proving their top scorer on the night.

The battle to stay in the division is an intriguing one with no less than six teams joined in bottom place on two points with as Ballinteer St John’s and St Vincent’s suffered one-point home losses to St Jude’s and Garristown.
