Goals proved key for Crumlin as they defeated Setanta by 3-19 to 1-18 in their Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 encounter in Poppintree on Sunday morning.
Kevin Elliott and Lee Coleman proved a thorn in the home side throughout and their goals and another by Kevin Byrne in the final quarter handed the visitors a sufficient buffer.
At the opposite end of the field, the defensive acumen of Darragh Fitzgerald, Peter Elliott and Conor Foley ensured there was no way back for Setanta.
There was another noteworthy away success in Collins Avenue as Scoil Ui Chonaill edged Whitehall Colmcille by 1-17 to 0-15.
The likes of Oisín Benham, Ruairí Coady, Brendan O’Connell, Tiernan Brown and James Conway set the tone for the visitors while eight Barry Cushen points and 1-1 by Fionn Daly clinched a deserved win.
In Ardscoil Rís, Naomh Fionnbarra withstood some strong second-half pressure to eventually outscore St Vincent’s by 4-22 to 3-19.
The visitors enjoyed a wind-assisted ten-point lead at the break and were indebted to both Jordan Fitzsimons and Owen Fogarty after the break for their defensive influence.
Conor Carbery shone further up the field with 3-3 from play and with Jordan Doyle chipping in with 1-4, Finbarrs built up a winning total through the placed ball accuracy of both Glen Dodrill and Tommy O’Neill.
The action commenced in Belfield on Friday night as Kilmacud Crokes (1) overcome Kilmacud Crokes (2) by 1-25 to 2-18.
Ruairí Walsh played a key role for the winners, finishing the contest with 0-12 to his name, including four points from open play.
Conall Criostóir (0-5) and full-forward Dan Doyle (1-2) also made vital contributions for Kilmacud’s second team, who held on for a deserved win thanks to strong displays by goalkeeper Conor Coogan, full-back Conor Mooney and midfield pairing Denis Murray and Max McBreen.

The hosts raced out of the blocks through a quickfire 1-2 from Keith Murray and a goal from Luke Whelan pushed them into a healthy 2-10 to 0-5 interval lead.
Lucan gradually found their feet after the break but were denied by an excellent Sean Andrews save and with Whelan adding his second goal from a superb Sean Boyle pass, Castleknock claimed a deserved win through five Cillian Downey frees and further points by Alex Santa Maria, Tom Lally, Cillian Clarke and Whelan.
