Tue, 9th May 2023

St Jude’s continue to set the pace at the summit of the Go Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 table following their 0-19 to 1-11 victory over Skerries Harps at Tymon Park on Saturday evening.

The Templeogue side have now picked up full points from their first six games and lead Lucan Sarsfields by a point having played one less fixture.

Alan Connolly was in sparkling form for the hosts, kicking five points from play, while David Sheehy also impressed with a personal tally of 0-4 from play.

Eoin Kenny and Kieran Doherty shared four frees over the hour with the remainder of the scores coming through Liam Granger, Kevin Lahiff and Simon Murphy.

After losing by a point on Wednesday night to Ballinteer St John’s, Ballymun Kickhams were on the right side of a narrow result as they edged St Vincent’s by 1-7 to 0-9 at Páirc Ciceam.

The visitors were clinging on to a two-point lead in added time but up popped Davy Byrne to find the back of the Vinnies net for the game-defining score.

With scores at a premium throughout, the performances of the likes of Leon Young, Andrew McCaul, Sean Parnell and Dillon Keating were crucial to Ballymun’s success.

Elsewhere, Cuala made light of their lowly position as they eased past Ballinteer St John’s by 3-16 to 1-5 at Hyde Park.

The foundation for their win was provided at the back through Danny Conroy, David O’Dowd and Michael Conroy as Cuala finished the first-half strongly despite the 27th minute black card received by Diarmuid Ó Floinn.

During that time, the hosts plundered 2-1 with Luke Keating once again showing his prowess as he accumulated 1-8 in total, 1-4 coming from open play.

Shane Mangan chipped in with an impressive 2-1 and with Cal Doran kicking five points from play, Cuala eased home through further scores from the influential Cillian Dunne and Ó Floinn.

There was another home win at Somerton Park as Castleknock defeated Na Fianna by 2-15 to 1-12.

The bulk of the damage was done in the first-half as a Ger McDermottroe penalty helped the hosts build up a sizeable 1-11 to 1-3 interval advantage.

Na Fianna improved after the break but the concession of a second goal to Rob Shaw ended thoughts of a comeback as Castleknock prevailed with six points to spare.

McDermottroe top scored with 1-4 with Shane Boland (0-3), Rob Shaw (1-1), Luke Swan (0-3), Eoin Sawyer (0-2), Kevin Stephenson (0-1) and Tom Norton (0-1) completing the home scoring.

Elsewhere, Ballyboden St Enda’s strengthened their hold on third place as they proved too strong for Raheny, winning by 3-16 to 0-7 while Thomas Davis remain in fourth spot after beating Kilmacud Crokes by 2-13 to 1-8.

Clontarf moved up to mid table when overcoming Naomh Olaf by 0-11 to 0-5 at Páirc Uí Bhriain while Lucan continue to show well with an impressive 3-7 to 1-10 win over St Sylvester’s.
