Kilmacud Crokes began their Go-Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 campaign on a positive note when accounting for Na Fianna by 0-18 to 2-10 at Mobhi Road on Sunday morning.

Brendan Scanlan impressed throughout for the visitors, finishing the game with ten points to his name, eight of which coming from placed balls, while Oisín O’Rorke chipped in with four scores.

Na Fianna remained in the hunt thanks to goals by Jack Burke and AJ Murphy but strong defensive displays by Brian Sheehy and Dara Geraghty and further scores from Padhraic Linehan, Caolan Conway, the lively Michael Roche and Fionn Ó Ceallaigh saw Crokes home with two points to spare.

That margin was mirrored in Shanganagh Park as St Vincent’s edged Cuala by 1-20 to 0-21.

John Hetherton proved their scoring talisman once again with a personal tally of 1-10 while Mark Sweeney was also in fine form as he landed three valuable points over the hour.

Tom Connolly showed well throughout for Vinnies with Eoghan O’Neill and James Mulcahy highly influential for the Marino outfit.

In Clonshaugh, Billy Ryan amassed 2-3 and Cian Derwin 0-8 in helping Craobh Chiaráin to overcome St Brigid’s by 2-18 to 1-16.

The Donnycarney side controlled matters for the large part thanks to the defensive efforts of goalkeeper Kieran McGouran, Kevin Hetherton, Darren McCarthy and Sean Brennan.

James Finn and Matthew Forbes combined well in the Craobh midfield with Robbie Mahon and substitute Carl Salmon also playing their part in the home win.

The remainder of the games on Sunday saw Lucan Sarsfields pull away at the end to defeat Raheny by 2-17 to 2-11 while St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh edged Faughs by 2-15 to 0-18.

On Saturday, The Battle of Ballyboden was won by their ‘A’ team, who put distance between the sides after to break to ensure a 4-25 to 0-14 win in Sancta Maria.

The winners led by 1-10 to 0-8 at the break with Fergal Ryan finding the net and he caught the eye after the break when adding two further goals to finish with a personal tally of 3-3.

Darragh Kenny accumulated nine points in total, three from open play, while Kevin Desmond chipped in with 1-2 to augment strong performances by Niall McMorrow and Conor Dooley.

Matty Weldon, Naoise Maguire and Cillian Wall were the pick of the ‘B’ team but their efforts and ten Shane Kennedy points proved in vain by the final whistle.

In Division 2 of the Go-Ahead AHL, Whitehall Colmcille did just enough to prevail as they edged Fingallians by 4-17 to 3-16 in their high-scoring encounter at Lawless Park.

The Colmcille goals arrived through Jamie Rafferty (two), Enda O’Donnell and Paul Daly and while Eoin O’Connor was in sparkling form for Fins up front, the free-taking of Paddy Spellacy at the opposite end helped see Whitehall over the line.

There was another away win in Farnham Drive as St Sylvester’s got the better of Erin’s Isle by 1-20 to 1-14.

There were two draws on Sunday as Castleknock and Ballinteer St John’s drew 1-12 apiece while Setanta and Naomh Barróg also shared the spoils on a 1-14 to 0-17 scoreline in Poppintree.

In Silver Park, Stevie Dwyer’s goal proved pivotal as Kilmacud Crokes pipped St Jude’s by 1-14 to 0-16.

The hosts were resolute at the back through Chris McCann, Dan Daly and Cormac Keys, while Conor Hughes was a solid presence around the middle third for Kilmacud.

Aaron O’Toole finished their top scorer with 0-5 (2f), with Dan Doyle, Tom Stakelum and the influential Mike Gibbons also making vital contributions over the hour.
