Ballyboughal continue to lead the way at the summit of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 3 table as they edged Round Towers Clondalkin by 1-15 to 2-9 at Monastery Road.
The North County outfit have made a habit of coming through tight matches this year, winning their previous three games by a combined six points and Saturday evening was no different as they secured their fourth successive victory.
Gerry Seaver caught the eye once again, scoring 0-3 from centre-back for a ‘Boughal side that was well served at the back by Darren Lee, Jordan Hoey and Will Rafter.
The midfield pairing of Cahal Flynn and Danny McGill took control of matters following a sluggish start while Cian Downey looked sharp in attack, top scoring with 1-3.
Eoghan Mac Philibín added three vital points over the hour as the visitors did enough to prevail thanks to further scoring contributions from Matty Farrell, Richard Downey, Ryan Rooney and Sean Conville.
With Pobal Parnell losing to Clann Mhuire, that win leaves Ballyboughal two points clear of St Anne’s and Ballyboden St Enda’s, who picked up away wins at St Margaret’s and Naomh Fionnbarra respectively.
In the Bogies, Ballyboden withstood some late Finbarrs pressure to eke out a narrow 1-14 to 2-10 victory.
The visitors started brightly through points from Fionn Keating McDermott, Sean Homan, Enda Cashman and Collie Dunne with a goal by Jimmy Meaney building a 1-6 to 0-7 interval lead.
Boden added to their lead through two-point scores from Cashman and Dunne and points from Homan, Dunne and Bob Dwane helped Boden build a comfortable 6-point lead going into the last ten minutes.
The hosts clawed their way back into contention with two goals in quick succession but St Enda’s had the final word as Harry Colclough released Cashman for the game-winning score.

In AFL4, St Patrick’s Donabate finished with a flourish to edge Ballinteer St John’s by 1-12 to 0-13 at Robbie Farrell Park, picking up their first win of the campaign in the process.
The hosts trailed for the majority of the contest but a goal from Ciaran Shields handed some much-needed momentum to their comeback ambitions.
Colm Kavanagh kicked three points over the hour and with Jack Kinsella adding a two-pointer, St Pat’s did just enough to prevail thanks to further scores from Brian Stenson, Jamie Whelan, Ryan Hensey, Levi Harley and Dan Ryan.
At the opposite end of the table, the top four all registered wins with leaders Craobh Chiaráin edging St Jude’s by 0-8 to 0-7 while St Finian’s Swords, St Pat’s Palmerstown and Ballymun Kickhams enjoyed wins over Man O’War, St Peregrine’s and Whitehall Colmcille respectively.
Geraldine P. Morans remain in the chasing pack following their 1-11 to 1-3 victory over Fingal Ravens in Rolestown.
With scores at a premium in the first-half, Liam Tyrrell’s goal was worth its weight in gold for the visitors, who pushed on after the break with a series of well-worked points.
Paddy Brogan accounted for the pick of these as Gers comfortably held on with Lochlann McCabe excelling in their half-back line.
