Round Up: Go-Ahead Ireland AHL 1 & AHL 2
Mon, 19 May 2025

Naomh Barróg were pushed all the way before eventually overcoming Cuala by 1-26 to 1-25 in their entertaining Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 encounter at Páirc Barróg on Saturday evening.

In his eighteenth season at senior level, Niall Ring led the way for the hosts with another accomplished display that included two points while goalkeeper Patrick Ryan made a number of telling interventions over the hour.

Nathan Kidd proved their scorer-in-chief with his personal tally of 0-14 including five points from open play and with Daniel Moore scoring a vital goal, Barróg held on for their third win of the year thanks to further scores from Joe Flanagan, Séadhna Ryan, Sean Gallagher, Sean Doyle, Ciaran Gallagher and Aodhán Ó Donnchú.

In Tymon Park, St Jude’s pulled away in the second-half on their way to a 2-16 to 0-17 victory over near neighbours Ballyboden St Enda’s A.

The dismissal of Boden’s Kevin Byrne approaching the break proved crucial as Sean Wiley impressed as the spare man, allowing St Jude’s to take control of matters.

That control resulted in an excellent John Carty goal at the end of the third quarter and they effectively settled the issue as Conor Nolan converted a penalty following fine work by Cathal Martin and Darragh Malone.

Niall McMorrow top scored with 0-8 for the visitors but his efforts and those of Conor Dooley proved in vain with the hosts ensuring their win courtesy of two points apiece from Declan O’Connor and Michael Foley.

In Go-Ahead Ireland Division 2, second-half goals by Bernard Deay and Aaron Fahy helped secure a deserved2-21 to 0-16 win for Naomh Mearnóg against Kilmacud Crokes in Silver Park.

The visitors seized control of matters in the first-half with the likes of Eoin Kelly, Shane Kavanagh, Stan Kinnane and Tynam Neville setting the tone as they led by 0-13 to 0-5 by half-time.

Kavanagh (0-5), Josh Phillips (0-4) and Kinnane (0-3) kept the away scoreboard ticking over throughout and with Deay and Fahy raising green flags, they eased home thanks to further contributions by Ian Moran, Jack Cottell, Chris Farrelly and Tom Cosgrove.

There was another away win at Farnham drive as Fingallians cemented their mid-table position with a narrow 1-17 to 3-10 win against Erin’s Isle.

The foundation for their win lay in the excellent performances at the back by Ian Kennedy and Finnin Brady while Árón Gargan and Cameron Clarke were also hugely influential for Fins.

Eoin O’Connor top scored for the visitors with eight points with Niall Rock’s superb goal worthy of winning any encounter.
