Thu, 15 May 2025

Commercials continue to set the pace at the summit of Division 3 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Hurling League as they defeated Setanta by 0-25 to 2-12 in Rathcoole on Tuesday night.

The win secured their sixth successive victory with scoring talisman Adam Drewett leading the way in terms of scores as he amassed fourteen points over the hour, ten of which came from placed balls.

Conor McCarthy chipped in with 0-3 from corner-forward for a Commercials side that largely controlled matters thanks to excellent individual displays by wing-forward Ferdia Ó Nualláin and Dean Simpson in midfield.

Hot on their heels in second place are a Naomh Olaf side that continued their recent free-scoring exploits when beating St Vincent’s by 6-30 to 1-8 in Pairc Uí Bhriain.

The leaders have opened up a gap on the chasing back with Naomh Fionnbarra doing their promotion prospects little harm as they edged Na Fianna by 3-13 to 1-16 in The Bogies.

The hosts trailed by nine points at half-time but dominated after the break with 2-7 from Tommy O’Neill proving central to their comeback.

Eamonn Dillon added the other Fionnbarra goal and with Dylan Owens scoring 0-3, the hosts secured a deserved win with Scott Robinson, Sean Lambe and goalkeeper Tadgh Stone more than playing their part.

In Go-Ahead Ireland AHL4, Kilmacud Crokes maintained their perfect start to the year as they pipped Crumlin by 1-24 to 2-19 in Pearse Park.

Matters proved similarly tight in Blakestown with St Peregrine’s moving up the table following their narrow 3-18 to 3-16 success against near neighbours Castleknock.

The hosts enjoyed a marginal lead at the break with Caelum Moriarty’s goal augmented by points by Mark Sweeney, Craig Melvin and Sean Bowe.

Sweeney (1-5) and Isaac Quinlan (1-2) added second-half goals for St Peregrine’s and while the visitors clawed their way back into the tie, late points from Moriarty (1-8) ended their comeback ambitions.

There was another derby in Tymon Park with St Jude’s doing enough to overcome their rivals Faughs, prevailing by 2-19 to 3-12 by the final whistle.

The foundation for their win lay at the back through the defensive efforts of Cuán Waters, Cian Hyland and Tom Bassett while Cuán Manning enjoyed an influential display from midfield.

David O’Callaghan top scored with 1-7 while Paul Nolan (0-4) and Luke McCarthy (1-0) also impressed up front for St Jude’s.
