Round Up of the Action from the Go-Ahead Ireland Senior 2 Football Championship Round 2
Mon, 8 September 2025

Round 2 of the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship took place on Saturday evening with St Patrick’s Donabate picking up their second successive win as they beat Scoil Uí Chonaill by 1-17 to 0-15 at Robbie Farrell Park.

With the wind at their backs, the hosts opened up an early five-point lead thanks largely to a brace of two-pointers from Dylan Knight Sands.

While the visitors clawed their way back through their aerial dominance around centrefield, St Pat’s finished the half on a high as Adam Dunne pounced for the game’s solitary goal.

The contest remained tight upon the restart with Andy Bunyan on target from placed balls for Scoil Uí Chonaill, but St Pat’s finished strongly with Stephen Dempsey kicking four points in total while Clyde Burke added insurance scores in the closing minutes.

Elsewhere in Group 4, Fingal Ravens bounced back from the disappointment of their opening round defeat to Scoil as they proved too strong for Round Towers Clondalkin, winning by 4-17 to 0-6.

The hosts served early notice of their intent through a Dylan Kettle point and pushed on thanks to Eric Donohue’s goal and three quickfire points by Jake Pope.

They continued on the front foot for the remainder of the half with Niall Daly, Simon Maguire, Kettle and Sean Kinsella all contributing to their fourteen-point lead by the interval.

A goal from Brian Gleeson in the early stages of the second-half increased the Ravens lead and a brilliant, flicked effort from Conor Foley augmented by a Pope goal saw Fingal home comfortably.

Group 1 remains hugely competitive with St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh confirming their place in the quarter-finals after beating local rivals St Brigid’s by 1-15 to 1-11 in Russell Park.

The second qualifying spot is still up for grabs after St Maur’s and Naomh Olaf shared the spoils in Rush, drawing 1-17 apiece.

Matters are even tighter in Group 2 as Oisín Lynch kicked two late two-pointers to rescue a draw for leaders Fingallians against Erin’s Isle in Farnham Drive.

Across in Páirc Barróg, events were similarly tense as Naomh Barróg pipped St Mary’s Saggart by 1-17 to 1-16.

The first quarter was relatively even with points by Paul Tolan, Killian Foran, Ryan Alexander and Conor Gibson keeping the hosts in the hunt before St Mary’s netted through wing-back Jacob Comiskey.

While Barróg responded well to that body blow through points from Aodhán O’Donoghue, Eoin Hart and Paul Tolan, the visitors dominated from that point with Blaine Kelly kicking two scores to push his side into a 1-11 to 0-7 lead by the interval.

The hosts resumed impressively with Hart and Matthew Nolan to the fore at midfield while they tightened up at the back through the defensive efforts of Ciaran Gallagher, Aaron Comerford and Mick Tolan.

Paul Tolan added a brace of two-pointers as the contest evolved and after Daniel Moore had palmed home from close range, they completed their comeback through an injury time score from Alexander.
