The semi-finalists for the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior 1 Football Championship were confirmed over the weekend with holders Cuala advancing to the last four following theirconvincing 4-20 to 0-12 win against Clontarf in Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon.
After a relatively even opening quarter, Cuala pounced for two goals within three minutes through Cillian Dunne and Con O’Callaghan on their way to a 2-5 to 0-6 half-time lead.
O’Callaghan kept the Cuala scoreboard ticking over after the break as he finished the game with 1-8 to his name and he provided assists as Conor Groarke and Charlie McMorrow raised further green flags in the final quarter.
Earlier in the day, Shane Walsh was another to sparkle from full-forward as he kicked 1-11 in helping Kilmacud Crokes to ease past Lucan Sarsfields by 1-21 to 0-5.
Crokes enjoyed a 0-13 to 0-3 lead at the interval with Walsh kicking no less than four two-pointers from play while Padraig Purcell added two points from corner-forward.
A sublime left-footed finish from Walsh within three minutes of the restart effectively settled the issue as Kilmacud controlled possession, limiting Lucan to a solitary Mark Lavin two-pointer in the second-half.
On Sunday afternoon, Ballyboden St Enda’s advanced to the last four courtesy of their hard-earned 0-11 to 1-5 victory over Castleknock.
The underdogs led by 1-3 to 0-5 at the break with Darragh Warnock rising above Hugh O’Sullivan to palm home in the 14th minute.
St Enda’s eventually reeled in their opponents through a brace of two-pointers from Daire Sweeney with the lively corner-forward proving their match-winer with a personal tally of 0-8.
The remaining semi-final berth was claimed in dramatic fashion by Na Fianna as James Doran scored a superb solo point in added time to edge near neighbours Ballymun Kickhamsby 1-18 to 1-17.
Kickhams took control in the second quarter with seven points from placed balls by Dean Rock building a 0-13 to 0-5 lead by the break.
Cathal Tighe added to their lead through a 33rd minute goal but a penalty from Keelan Sexton brought Na Fianna back into range before Doran clinched victory following a piercing run from deep.
