Round-Up of weekends Go-Ahead Ireland AFL1 & AFL2 games
Mon, 7 July 2025

Ballyboden St Enda’s claimed the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 title when narrowly overcoming Ballymun Kickhams by 2-19 to 0-22 at Pairc Uí Mhurchú on Friday night.

The win moved them three points clear of their nearest challengers Na Fianna but they were pushed all the way by a Ballymun side that made the most of the elements in their favour in the opening-half.

Kickhams led by 0-15 to 0-6 at the break with Dean Rock in sparkling form as he kicked a quartet of two-pointers while James McCarthy also impressed in their dominant first-half showing.

A John McGuire goal saw St Enda’s claw their way back into contention after the break with two-pointed scores from Céin Darcy, McGuire, Ross McGarry and Mark Walsh maintaining their momentum despite Rock kicking four frees to take his personal tally to 0-15.

With the contest deadlocked entering added time, a home free rebounded from the upright and Ryan O’Dwyer was in the right place at the right time to fire home and secure the title in the process.

In Saggart, St Mary’s made sure of their top-flight spot for 2026 as they edged St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh by 3-14 to 2-14 on Sunday morning.

The hosts raced from the blocks through early goals by Conor Jameson and Jamie McCarville with the efforts of Mick O’Keeffe, Rhys Butler and Adam Drewett helping build a six-point buffer by the interval.

Plunkett’s clawed their way back from eight points down to restore parity late on but St Mary’s finished on the front foot thanks to decisive points from Shane Buckley, Blaine Kelly and Jacob Clarke.

In Go-Ahead Ireland AFL2, Raheny clinched the final promotion spot to Division 1 as they defeated Pobal Parnell by 3-17 to 0-10 in St David’s.

The visitors enjoyed the benefit of the breeze in the opening half and they took full advantage as Conor Baldwin set the tone with an early two-pointed score.

Goals followed in quick succession through Baldwin and Conor Foran while the bursting runs from deep by Sean MacMahon saw the Dublin defender chip in with three points.

Paddy Reid’s ability to kick from distance yielded a brace of two-pointed scores as Raheny entered the break leading by 2-12 to 0-3.

The second-half was a more even affair but the visitors rarely looked in trouble with Alex Kinsella showing well in defence and they confirmed their victory through a Colin Hehir goal and further points from Killian McGuirk, Colin McAweeney and Ciaran Hartnett.

Meanwhile, in Collins Avenue, Whitehall Colmcille preserved their Division 2 status as they edged St Vincent’s by 2-19 to 2-16.

While Gavin Burke impressed for the visitors, Whitehall kept their noses in front with the bulk of their scores coming through Cormac Costello and Eoghan O’Donnell, who shared 2-10 over the hour, while Adam McDermott, Matt Moran and Tony O’Sullivan were highly influential throughout.

Naomh Fionnbarra finished their disappointing season on a positive note when they defeated Kilmacud Crokes by 1-17 to 1-11 in The Bogies.

An early Conor Carberry goal set them on the road to victory and with Dylan Owens and Tommy O’Neill to the fore, they maintained their control of matters courtesy of eight points from Karl Grimes.
