St Margaret’s were in seventh heaven on Sunday morning as they got the better of Castleknock by 7-9 to 3-16 in their thrilling PTSB Dublin GAA Adult Football League Division 3 encounter at Somerton Park.
Jack Murphy was outstanding between the sticks for the visitors while both Niall Kennedy and Josh Kennedy were vigilant at the back with Jamie McGuinness delivering another strong showing at midfield.
Conor McKenna (2-0) and Charlie Madigan (1-1) were the pick of the Maggies attack and with Leon Daly scoring 2-2, they built up a winning tally thanks to the scoring returns of Darren Keogh (1-1), McGuinness (1-1) and two points apiece from Brian Shanahan and Scott Kennedy.
That win leaves St Margaret’s two points behind league leaders Na Fianna, who were pushed all the way before edging Pobal Parnell by 1-15 to 0-16 at Mobhi Road.
The solitary goal of the contest came through Ben Kane in the first-half while Liam Fay, Ben O’Connell and Tom Connell ensured the home scoreboard kept ticking over.
At the opposite end of the field, both Ian Jesson and Justin Egan were hugely effective in curbing the Parnell’s attack and Jack Lacey was a solid presence around the middle third.
Na Fianna top the table by a point from a Ballyboden St Enda’s team that eased past Ballyboughal by 3-20 to 1-9 while Round Towers Clondalkin took their goal tally to sixteen over their past three games as they overcame Clann Mhuire by 6-13 to 0-24.

In AFL4, St Finian’s Swords delivered a dominant final quarter showing as they pulled away from Whitehall Colmcille to prevail by 1-16 to 0-11 at Ridgewood Park on Friday night.
The hosts trailed by 0-8 to 0-3 at the break but clawed their way back into contention thanks to excellent individual performances from Senan Crosbie (0-4) and Oisín O’Hea.
A brace of two-pointers from Conor Halpin, who finished with 0-10 to his name, saw St Finian’s regain control and they made sure of their victory as Sean Cronin raced through from deep before finding the bottom corner of the net for the game’s pivotal moment.
That result saw St Finian’s gain ground on league leaders St Patrick’s Palmerstown, who suffered their second loss of the campaign when falling to in-form St Patrick’s Donabate by 1-17 to 1-9 at Robbie Farrell Park.
The hosts produced another exceptional team display with saw Brian Stenson top scoring with 1-6 and they pulled away thanks to three points apiece from Killian McKeon and Jamie Whelan with corner-back Colm Riordan also amongst their scorers.
After a tough few weeks, Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels registered another morale-boosting victory as they accounted for Fingal Ravens by 2-14 to 0-10 in Rolestown, picking up their second successive win in the process.
The foundation for their win lay at the back through the efforts of Eliot Lupton and Darragh Kelly while Ciaran Norton impressed at centrefield as he kicked four points from play.
In attack, Barry O’Reilly pulled the strings from centre-forward with Conor Dunphy making sure of their success as he bagged both goals from corner-forward.
