Thu, 2 July 2026

St Margaret’s moved into sole top spot in Division 3 of the PTSB Dublin Adult Football League after getting the better of promotion hopefuls Na Fianna by 4-11 to 0-10 at Mobhi Road last Tuesday night

Leon Daly was in sparkling form up front for the visitors, scoring 2-3, while Charlie Madigan (1-3) and Darren Keogh also enjoyed influential displays in the Maggies attack.

The away defence kept a tight rein on the Na Fianna forward line through the likes of Declan Doyle, Jack Stynes and Niall Kennedy and the visitors were also indebted to the dominance provided at centrefield by Jamie McGuinness and Scott Kennedy.

The duo combined for 1-2 over the hour as St Margaret’s eased home thanks to further points from Shane Tynan, Damien Murphy and Shane Madigan.

Matters were far tighter in Ballyboughal as the hosts pipped a struggling Trinity Gaels by 1-19 to 2-15 with Eoghan Mac Philibín scoring the winner.

Matty Farrell scored four points and impressed at the back alongside Will Cooney and Mark Cooper with the fielding of Richard Downey and three points by Gerry Seaver offering a solid return from midfield.

Cian Warren was their key man up front with 1-3 while the scoring contributions of Cian Casey (0-3), John Rodgers (0-3) and Cian Downey (0-2) helped them over the line, preserving their promotion ambitions in the process.

The drama is equally tense towards the bottom of the table as Castleknock handed themselves a lifeline when edging Clann Mhuire by 2-13 to 2-11 in Somerton Park.

Adam Rogers was in fine form for the visitors as he kicked a brace of two-pointers and a number of frees but the hosts gradually took control with their midfield of Martin Brady and Aidan Kearney benefitting from the pinpoint restarts of home goalkeeper Alex Conroy.

Both Sam Ryan and Lenny Bracken netted for Castleknock with the former kicking an insurance point late on as the hosts held out with Luke Kearney a resolute presence at full-back.

The likes of Alan Hubbard and Glenn Sheridan provided valuable experience to the Ballymun challenge and with both Adam Thorpe and Kevin Deegan also to the fore, they made certain of victory courtesy of some key saves by goalkeeper Kieron McDonnell.

Scores were harder to source in Man O’War as the hosts maintained their narrow lead at the summit with an 0-12 to 0-6 win against St Peregrine’s.
