Round-Up PTSB Dublin Senior 2 Football Quarter-Finals

Round-Up PTSB Dublin Senior 2 Football Quarter-Finals
Mon, 5 October 2026

The last four of the PTSB Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship were confirmed on Saturday evening with Fingal Ravens securing their spot with a comfortable 3-16 to 0-10 win against Naomh Barróg in Rolestown.

The tone of Ravens dominance was set as Jake Pope released Brian Gleeson for their opening goal and Pope kept the home scoreboard ticking over with three points from play to put further daylight between the teams.

Simon Maguire produced a hugely influential showing for the hosts, who added to their lead before half-time through a fine individual goal by Sean Kinsella.

The visitors impressed in the early stages of the second-half but their fate was sealed as Conor Foley flicked an Eoghan Daly delivery to the net and subsequent points by Dylan Kettle, Pope and Kinsella saw Ravens ease home by the final whistle.

Matters were far tighter in Lawless Park as Peter Costello’s dramatic late point saw St Vincent’s pip Fingallians by 0-21 to 1-17 after extra-time.

There was never much to separate the teams with Oisín Lynch keeping the home scoreboard ticking over while Cian Dunne and Michael O’Rowe did likewise for Vinnies.

Dunne continued to shine as the visitors built on their 0-9 to 0-5 interval lead but Fins finished on the front foot to force extra-time courtesy of a Lewis Nugent two-pointer and Sean O’Neill’s goal deep into injury time.

Lynch, Mikey Caul and Graham O’Brien all added to the home tally in extra-time but scores by Shane O’Leary and Costello proved pivotal for St Vincent’s.

In Thomas Ashe Park, Round Towers Lusk withstood a brave second-half comeback from Erin’s Isle to prevail by 2-20 to 2-15.

First half-goals from Cormac Howley and Stephen Moore saw Towers build up a 2-14 to 0-8 interval lead but the visitors clawed their way back to two points before the hosts regrouped to kick the final three points of the contest, despite being reduced to fourteen.

Home talisman Howley finished the contest with 1-9 to his name and with Aaron Naughton, Ryan Caul and Jack Hussey kicking three points apiece, they edged home through points by Liam Bohan and Evan Ferguson.

Scores were harder to find in Russell Park but St Brigid’s did enough to see off a battling Clanna Gael Fontenoy, winning by 0-14 to 1-8.

Gavin Sheridan top scored for the hosts with five points and with Scott Daly (0-3) and Sean Egan (0-2) also on form, they did enough to prevail thanks to further points by Conor Watt, Mick McGrath, Emmet Brady and Daniel Logan.

Away from promotion and title ambitions, St Anne’s and Naomh Mearnóg preserved their place in AFL2 for 2027 following narrow wins against Scoil Uí Chonaill and St Mary’s Saggart respectively.

While St Anne’s repelled a brave comeback to win by 3-10 to 1-15 against Scoil, Mearnógimpressed from the outset when defeating St Mary’s by 3-10 to 3-6 in Portmarnock.

Cian Madden and Gavin Nangle were central to the home win as they controlled the exchanges at midfield while Dylan Cronin, Mick Fitzgerald and Tynam Neville were the pick of their resolute defence.

Michael Gibbs and Jamie Walsh were rewarded for their bright displays up front with pivotal goals and with Nangle also raising a green flag, Mearnóg held on through the scoring returns of Bernard Deay.
