Round-Up - PTSB Dublin Senior IFC Quarter-Finals

Ballyboughal progressed to the last four of the PTSB Dublin Intermediate Club Football Championship as they enjoyed a healthy 1-20 to 1-10 home victory against St Margaret’s on Saturday afternoon.  

In what was an exceptional team display, the hosts controlled matters for the large part, with defenders Cian Casey (0-2), Will Rafter, Willie Cooney and Sean Conville setting the tone. 

Simon Barrett and Mark Cooper combined well in ‘Boughal engine room and with Gerry Seaver chipping in with five points, the hosts kicked clear through further scores by Cahal Flynn (0-2), John Rodgers (0-3) and Cian Downey (1-1). 

That Ballyboughal maintained their ascendancy throughout was down to a strong impact from the bench with Eoghan Mac Philibín (0-2), Senan Campbell (0-2), Ryan Rooney and the returning Danny McGill more than playing their part in their ten-point victory.

On a day when home advantage proved pivotal in all four matches, Man O’War also came through unscathed as they overcame Naomh Fionnbarra by 3-20 to 1-15. 

The hosts enjoyed a four-point interval lead and continued to dominate with midfielder Sean Hussey a pivotal figure after the break as he exerted a stranglehold around the middle third. 

The impressive Conor Dolan kept the home scoreboard ticking over with a personal tally of 0-13 and with Dan Moore, Charlie Dolan and the influential Rob Lynch all raising green flags, they pulled away with Anthony Kelly also impressing over the hour. 

Matters were far tighter in Páirc Ui Bhriain as Naomh Olaf took control in extra-time to eventually see off a determined Trinity Gaels by 1-25 to 3-12. 

The sides finished deadlocked at 0-15 to 2-9 at full-time but the hosts took control in extra-time, scoring 1-10 during that period to book their semi-final spot. 

Oisin Hills proved a key marksman for the winners, finishing with 1-7 to his name while Tomas Waldron was equally lively in attack as he contributed six points over the eighty minutes. 

David Byrne brought his intercounty experience to great effect, scoring two points into the bargain with Dan Lavelle and Tadgh McCarthy also proving influential figures for the hosts. 

With James Oliver chipping in with three points, Olaf’s made certain of the win thanks to further scores by Glenn Soraghan, Colin Doyle, Oscar Bent and Niall Manning. 

The remaining quarter-final also produced plenty of thrills and spills as Clann Mhuire finished strongly to pip a battling Garristown by 3-21 to 1-23 in Naul. 

Elsewhere, preservation was the order of the day as the two relegation play-offs took place with O’Dwyer’s and St Peregrine’s making sure of their IFC status for 2027 when overcoming St Finian’s Newcastle and St Finian’s Swords respectively.
