There was a shortened series of matches in Division 1 of the PTSB Dublin Adult Football League last weekend with as many as five matches called off as a result of Regulation 8.
Of those games that did take place, Ballymun Kickhams finished their encouraging campaign off on a positive note as they eased past St Patrick’s Donabate by 4-15 to 0-9 on Saturday afternoon.
Carl Keeley impressed throughout for the hosts and with valuable support from Cameron McCormack, they pulled away through the scoring contributions of Keelin McGann, Keeley and Dillon Keating.
That win leaves Kickhams in top spot on 23 points, level with a Kilmacud Crokes side that enjoyed a similarly comfortable victory when beating St Vincent’s by 2-24 to 1-8 in Páirc Naomh Uinsionn.
The writing was on the wall by the interval as first-half goals from Luke Ward and Leo Fearon handed Crokes the initiative and they maintained their control courtesy of nine Dara Mullin points over the hour.
Pat Hughes and Mark O’Leary chipped in with four points apiece with Paddy Corbett, Joe Mooney, James Murphy, Ben Shovlin and Owen Shearer all adding to the Kilmacud tally by the final whistle.
The remaining match took place in Kiltipper Road as Thomas Davis maintained their fine recent form when edging Na Fianna by 3-17 to 0-22.
The foundation for their victory lay at midfield through the partnership of Sean Kennedy and Josh Lambert while the hosts were boosted by scores from all three of their half-back line.
Mark Nolan proved the match-winner for Thomas Davis with 2-2 and they did enough to secure their fourth win on the bounce courtesy of a third goal from substitute Fionn Murray.

In AFL2, St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh claimed the league title as they defeated St Maur’s by 3-20 to 4-6 in Martin Savage Park on Saturday afternoon.
The win was their thirteenth success of the campaign with goals by Jack O’Shea, Conor Tyrrell and Irinel Popa proving too much for the battling visitors.
Conal Regan produced an excellent performance at corner-back for a Plunkett’s side that made sure of their victory through a number of two-pointers from Garreth Smith in the second-half.
At the opposite end of the table, Naomh Mearnóg preserved their Division 2 status for next year when overcoming Kilmacud Crokes by 2-12 to 0-13 in Páirc Mearnóg.
The hosts were without a number of key personnel but started brightly through early points from Jason O’Neill and Matthew Reen before Josh Boylan converted a penalty to hand them an early lead.
Two points apiece from Gavin Nangle and Reen built a 1-6 to 0-4 buffer by the interval with scores by Reen, Bernard Deay and O’Neill extending that lead early in the second-half.
The visitors struck back with five unanswered points but the contest was effectively settled as O’Neill netted early in the fourth quarter with insurance points arriving through Leen and O’Neill in the closing stages.
