Senior hurlers strive to get the better of Limerick

Kilkenny are through to the GAA hurling All-Ireland semi-final on August 9 after retaining the Leinster title and will be joined next Sunday by the winners of the Tipperary v Waterford Munster final, which will be played in Semple Stadium, Thurles (4.0).

Meanwhile, the battle to decide who joins Galway and the Tipperary/Waterford losers in the All-Ireland quarter-finals continues in Semple Stadium next Saturday with two qualifier ties, featuring Dublin v Limerick (5.0) and Clare v Cork (7.0)

DUBLIN vs LIMERICK

They have met just six times previously in the championship, the last coming in 2011 when Dublin won an All-Ireland quarter-final tie by 3-13 to 0-18. Limerick won all five previous clashes.

  • Dublin drew (0-20 to 1-17) and lost (5-19 to 1-18) in the replayed Leinster quarter-final against Galway, before beating Laois by 4-17 0-19 in the All-Ireland qualifiers last Saturday.

  • Limerick beat Clare by 1-19 to 2-15 in the Munster quarter-final and lost the semi-final to Tipperary by 4-23 to 1-16. They won an All-Ireland qualifier tie against Westmeath last Sunday by 4-15 to 1-12. TIPPERARY vs WATERFORD

Both counties are back in the Munster final for the first time since 2012 when T0ipperary beat Waterford by seven points.
