Strong second half sees Boden progress to quarter-finals of SHC

Sun, 22nd April 2018

Ballyboden St Enda’s put in a strong second half display to see off the challenge of St Brigid’s, 2-19 to 1-12, in their Dublin SHC ‘A’ Group 3 duel at O’Toole Park on Sunday morning.

Conal Keaney clipped four points from play in the opening half while the in-form Paul Ryan tallied 2-4 (1-2f) overall, both goals coming in the second period after the sides were level 0-11 to 1-8 at half-time.

Cian O’Sullivan got the Brigid’s goal in the fifth minute to give the Russell Park side the ideal start.

Just before the last quarter Brigid’s threatened on the Boden goal but James Madden made an excellent goal-line to deny Eoghan Dunne.

Then in quick succession Ryan hit his two goals, the first a touch fortuitous from a deadball situation.

Cuala face Boden in the final round of games, after the Dublin SHC break, to decide top spot as both clubs have now progressed to the quarter-finals.
