ST VINCENT’S 1-14 NA FIANNA 1-12
St Vincent's came from behind in the second-half to overcome Na Fianna in Friday night's opening Dublin SHC 'A' quarter-final at Parnell Park.
After a very even opening half the Marino men led 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval, with 20 minutes to go the sides were level before Na Fianna's Colin Currie goaled in the 42nd minute to propel his side in front.
However, going down the straight it was Vincent's who finished the stronger with sub Alan Moore scoring their crucial goal with 12 minutes remaining and points from John Hetherton, Cian McBride and Thomas Connolly booked their berth in the semi-finals.
In the first-half neither side enjoyed any great spells of dominance with the first goal opportunity arriving in the 20th minute when Hetherton’s crossfield pass put Cian McBride through on goal but Na Fianna keeper Jonathan Treacy did well to parry his shot.
Colin Currie had scored his first point from play to put Na Fianna in front before successive scores from Conor Burke, Mark O’Keeffe and Hetherton regained the lead for Vinnies who led 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval.
In the 42nd minute Na Fianna went back in front when Colin Currie beat Vincent's keeper Dare de Poire from 12 metres.
But it was Vincent's who had the crucial say in the concluding minutes with Moore's goal and their late flurry of points enough to see off the challenge of the St Mobhi Road men.
