U16 footballers overcome Kildare in Gerry Reilly opener

Dublin's under-16 footballers face Down on Saturday in their second game of the Gerry Reilly tournament following their victory over Kildare in St Conleth's Park, Newbridge on Wednesday night.

The young Dubs showed great spirit to come back from trailing 0-9 to 0-3 at one stage of the opening half to eventually prevail 2-14 to 0-14 with Luke Murphy and Dara Fagan getting the goals.

The Dubs will play Down on Saturday in Abbotstown (12.0) before concluding their round-robin games away against Antrim.

The top two teams in the group advance to the quarter-finals. All games from quarter-finals on take place in host club Oldcastle GFC, Meath.
