U20 hurlers ready for Offaly duel in Leinster HC

U20 hurlers ready for Offaly duel in Leinster HC

Tue, 25th June 2019

Cuala's Diarmuid O Floinn will captain this year's Dublin U20 hurlers as they face Offaly in Wednesday night's Bord Gais Energy Leinster U20HC quarter-final in Parnell Park (7.30; extra-time, winner on day if necessary).

Dublin's starting team includes two members of the current Dublin senior panel - Lee Gannon and Davy Keogh - and is backboned by the minor team of 2017.

Dublin were beaten in the 2017 Leinster MHC final by Kilkenny (3-15 to 1-17), they then overcame Antrim in the All-Ireland quarter-final (2-20 to 0-11) before losing an All-Ireland semi-final to Cork (0-23 to 2-13).

Included in the panel that year who will start on Wednesday night against the Faithful County are Conor O'Donoghue, Andrew Dunphy, Tommy Kinnane, Lee Gannon, Davy Keogh, Diarmuid O Floinn, Kevin Desmond, Sean Currie (pictured above), Luke McDwyer and Kevin Burke.

Na Fianna's Sean Currie finished the 2017 MHC campaign as the second top-scorer in the overall competition when compiling 2-47 (53) in five games, one place behind Cork's Brian Turnbull who had a personal tally of 1-51 (54).

With Galway and Wexford waiting in the semi-finals since the outset Kilkenny defeated Laois (5-21 to 0-10) in the other quarter-final on Monday night and now advance to face Galway, the winner of the Dublin versus Offaly game will play Wexford on Wednesday, July 3 in their semi-final.
