Bulletin: Scór na nÓg

Mon, 26th January 2015

This year, the all-Ireland finals of the Scór competitions will be held in Dublin. Scór is the GAA’s cultural talent competition. The competition was started to give an outlet to GAA members during the winter months when games are finished, pitches are closed and weather is bad. The GAA is delighted to promote all areas of Irish culture, not alone our sporting culture.

There are eight categories in the competition:

  1. Céilí dancing
  2. Solo singing
  3. Instrumental music
  4. Recitation
  5. Ballad group
  6. Léiriú/Historical Drama
  7. Set dancing
  8. Quiztime

The competitions start locally between clubs, then between counties and then between the provinces. The G.A.A. President then presents all-Ireland medals to the winners.

There are two competitions, Scór na nÓg (for those under 17 years of age) agus Scór Sinsear (for those over 17).

The Scór na nÓg final will take place in Citywest Hotel on 14th February, 2015.

The Scór Sinsear final will take place in the Citywest Hotel on 25th April, 2015.
