CCC2 update Friday 14th May

Fri, 14th May 2021

The County Youth Competitions Control Committee Two (CCC 2) is responsible for the arrangement and control of all games in respect of the Age Groups under 13 to under 16 (inclusive). CCC2 wish to give you an update.

Similar to the update given by the other juvenile committee CCC1 last week the current Covid position for our teams from Croke Park is as follows:

  • From Monday, May 10th, both adult and underage training are permitted on a full contact basis in pods of 15.
  • Games (including challenge games) will not be permitted until June 7th.

CCC2 wish to brief you on the committees plans for the resumption of issued u13 to u16 fixtures and the plan for the remainder of the year.

The committee has already previously engaged with clubs in the confirmation of League Divisions and will draw on this information for the necessary restructuring of all competition which will be explained below.

CCC2 attach a revised 2021 summary calendar. A more detailed timetable covering all u8 to u16 juvenile activity will be circulated next week. Also to be issued next will be revised gradings based on the information update below.

CCC2 revised 2021 summary calendar

U13s

As previously advised the original plan in both codes was to play u13 grading league games to be followed by an u13 league. CCC2 wish to reconfirm that the committee will issue groupings of 10 teams per division next week. This will apply to both hurling and football and no league will follow the playing of these 9 games. The committee gives an undertaking that a consultation process involving initial self-grading will be sought from Clubs in advance of the u14 2022 season.

U14 & U15s

The following format will be used across all u14 & u15 competitions.

Stage 1

  • 16 Teams will be split into 2 Groups of 8 teams (7 games) in a Qualifying Competition
  • Eight of these teams will be seeded so each group will have 4 seeded and 4 non-seeded teams

Stage 2

  • Two Groups of 4 Teams will be created (1st & 4th from Group A of Qualifying Competition paired with 2nd & 3rd from Group B)
  • Two Groups of 4 Team will be created (5th & 8th from Group A of Qualifying Competition paired with 6th & 7th from Group B)
  • The 2 Group Winners will contest a Final

This will provide each team with a minimum of 10 games and a quarter of teams will contest a Final.

The maximum score difference per fixture allowed if teams tied will be +10 points.

Competition naming convention:

U14 qualifying competitions

  • Teams ranked 1-16 will lead to Div.1 Cup and Div.2 Cup winners
  • Teams ranked 17-32 will lead to Div.3 Cup and Div.4 Cup winners
  • Teams ranked 33-48 will lead to Div.5 Cup and Div.6 Cup winners

(96 u14 football teams entered & 70 u14 hurling teams entered)

U15 qualifying competitions

  • Teams ranked 1-16 will lead to Div.1 Feile and Div.2 Feile winners
  • Teams ranked 17-32 will lead to Div.3 Feile and Div.4 Feile winners
  • Teams ranked 33-48 will lead to Div.5 Feile and Div.6 Feile winners

(71 u15 football teams entered & 49 u15 hurling teams entered)

U16s

As a significant number of our U16 players will be part of the Minor U17 Intercounty panels the follow will be the structure for our U16s.

The recently issued gradings will be amended to groupings of 8 teams per division and 7 League games will be played.

Clubs must play these league games as they may not have access to County U17 players.

The Championship will commence in September in the same format as recent years.

Overall this will provide 11-13 games per code

General points

As guidance the committee anticipate the same regulations as last year:

  • Allowing games to proceed with a minimum of 13 players
  • Allowing unlimited substitutions
  • All games will be play or concede
  • Games maybe brought forward but not deferred

2020 Competitions

On 6th November 2020 CCC2 announced that all u13, u14 & u15 outstanding competitions would not be completed. At the time we said outstanding u16 games would be rescheduled from 17th January 2021 subject to Government and Croke Park guidelines. Unfortunately, the committee has decided that it is not possible to complete these games and therefore all outstanding 2020 u16 games from 2020 will not be completed.
