CCC2 update on the 2022 Season

CCC2 update on the 2022 Season

Fri, 10th December 2021

CCC2 wish to give you an update on the 2022 season covering the age grades under 13 to under 16 inclusive.

The committee has a draft 2022 fixture calendar and is awaiting confirmation early next week of the major National Talent Academy dates including Féile dates. CCC2 would hope to brief Bord na nÓg next week with circulation to Clubs Monday 20th December.

I stress this is only a draft:

  • U13 -
    • grading Leagues (Hurling 6 team, Football 8 team) followed by 10 team leagues
  • U14 -
    • based on 2021s qualifying/cup format and positive/negative feedback received.
    • Reducing ranking cohorts from 16 to 12 teams
    • split into two groups of 6 (5 games) for first phase qualifying
    • limited relegation/promotion from cohort to cohort after first phase.
    • Re-split into two groups of 6 (5 games) for second phase qualifying.
    • Top 3 into A Cup - Winner of groups into semi ... 2nd/3rd to quarter.
    • Bottom 3 into B Cup - 4th into Semi ... 5th/6th to quarter.
    • Every team will play in a Cup Quarter final at least and get 11 games per code.
  • U15 -
    • Feile round robins first - no single day blitz - 8 team per division
    • Cup and Shield competitions - every team will play in a Semi-final (min 4 games per code)
    • 8 team leagues starting post Feile
    • Opportunity for all to enter Regional Feile competitions in late May/Early June
  • U16 - League in Spring and Championship in Autumn.

The 2022 CCC2 Season is likely to start 19th or 26th February. The committee is trying to minimise the number of the midweek games and put in place a clear Summer break period.

Both CCC1 & CCC2 will issue Football and Hurling 2022 entry forms next week with a return date Wednesday 5th January 2022.
